Monica Anderson has a Master's degree in Computer Science from Linköping University in Sweden. She has been working in Silicon Valley since the 1980's and is a naturalized US citizen. She has been interested in the quest for computer based cognition since college. Many of her positions have been with startup companies that have used cutting-edge technologies that have been labeled as "AI". However, she claims that those that worked well, such as expert systems, have all been of the "Weak AI" variety. In 2001 she moved from using AI techiques as a programmer to trying to advance the field of "Strong AI" as a researcher. She has originated the ideas of Artificial Intuition, Selectionist AI, and Genetic Signaling and is busy exploring these. Her hope is that they will lead to document understanding technologies that could be used to significantly improve web search and related tasks.

She has consulted for Cisco Systems, and worked for Schlumberger Palo Alto Research, Kanisa, and Google. She is currently CEO for Syntience Inc.
